To those who have subscribed to www.feralspirituality.uk
Hello
The feralspirituality.uk website was launched four months ago. Thank you for signing up for occasional emails from us. It’s great to have your support.
We are two friends, both attracted by a feral approach to spirituality, but coming at it slightly differently, which we reckon is a good thing. We suspect that there are more ‘ferals’ out there than one might imagine. There’s an element of feral - the willingness to explore outside the structures, trusting and thinking for oneself - to be found in many spiritual people. For some it’s a dominant element. For others it is an occasional corrective.
The website emerged from various conversations. It is exploratory. We wanted to raise a flag and see if others might gravitate to it. We don’t know what might happen next. We have no plan, except to offer it as a resource.
We’ve received affirmative, encouraging emails. Thank you for those. And thank you to those of you who have submitted your stories and other material. If you have not done so, please consider sending your own story and perspective.
Content on the site so far shows people exploring a feral approach to spirituality in a fascinating and wide-ranging variety of ways: busking in Leeds city centre; death celebrations on Tooting Common; Charlie Mackesy’s story telling. It has led Henry into a number of deep conversations, and we hope these accounts and views have done that for others also.
It’s also made clear that what we’re calling feral is but a small part of a standard human activity, to which God, named or un-named, calls people. It invites us to be aware of a God Who is busily active in the world, as often to be found outside religious activity as within it.
Do send us material. The more people who contribute the richer the site will become. Do you know of other websites it might be good to be linked with? Do you have any suggestions about what the site might address? Do let us know. We’re not just open to new ideas, we’re dependant on them.
With good wishes, and thanks.
Henry
